Automated Warehouse System

Automated Warehouse System is an automated storage system completed in 2018. It was designed, manufactured, and commissioned by Aramet OÜ for the Industry 4.0 laboratory at Tallinn University of Applied Sciences.

The automated warehouse system operates in cooperation with the rest of the production line. Products to be stored are placed in the warehouse system’s loading area by an autonomous robot. The products are stored in metal containers, which are kept on shelving units. A three-axis servo-driven manipulator moves between the shelves, transporting the containers and bringing the required container to the loading area when needed.

The Automated Warehouse System is a complete standalone machine capable of operating independently and includes all necessary controllers and other automation equipment. When an order is requested, the production line control system requests the required product from the warehouse system. The system keeps track of the shelf location in which each order is stored and automatically brings the correct container to the loading area. The system also keeps track of available and occupied storage locations. The storage logic for empty containers and containers holding orders can be configured as required. In addition, the warehouse system automatically performs an inventory check whenever a person has entered the storage area. The containers stored on the shelves are equipped with RFID chips and ESL (Electronic Shelf Label) displays.
